|A big six Big East teams land in this week's AP Top 25 poll. They are Georgetown at #5, Louisville (#8), Marquette (#15), Syracuse (#17), Pittsburgh (#20), and Notre Dame (#24).
Georgetown moves up two spots in the poll following a week that began with an overtime win at Connecticut, 79-78. After that came another win at home against Rutgers, 64-51.
Louisville moves up two places after wins against then-12th ranked Syracuse, 58-53 and DePaul, 79-58. Marquette moves up seven spots after wins against then-21st ranked Notre Dame, 72-64 and then-12th ranked Syracuse, 74-71. Syracuse moves down five places after consecutive losses to then-10th ranked Louisville and then-22nd ranked Marquette.
Gonzaga grabs the number one ranking following a week in which they first got a victory at Brigham Young, 70-65. After that came another win at home against Portland, 81-52. Indiana lost their number one ranking with a win against Iowa, 73-60 and a loss to Minnesota, 77-73. Virginia Commonwealth breaks into the Top 25 at #21 with an upset win at home over then-20th ranked Butler, 84-52. UCLA also enters the Top 25 at #23. Butler falls out of the rankings this week with an upset loss at Virginia Commonwealth. Louisiana Tech also drops out this week.
