Pittsburgh's Tray Woodall has earned the StatSheet Big East Player of the Week for the week ending February 6th. St. John's's D`Angelo Harrison has won StatSheet Big East Freshman of the Week. And finally, Dante Taylor from Pittsburgh is StatSheet's Big East 6th Man of the Week.
Woodall was the best in the Big East in scoring (26.5 pts per game). He also had huge numbers in rebounding (5 per game), shooting (60%), and assists (4 per game). The Pittsburgh junior put these numbers up in wins versus West Virginia and Villanova.
Woodall led the Panthers in scoring with 24 points and added 4 rebounds in a 72-66 win over West Virginia. That was followed by a team-leading 29 points plus an additional 5 assists in a 79-70 victory over Villanova.
This is the first StatSheet Big East Player of the Week award for Tray Woodall. The runner-up this week is sophomore Eric Atkins from Notre Dame. Honorable mention goes to senior Scott Martin from Notre Dame. Gerard Coleman, who finished fourth, was the highest ranking player from Providence.
StatSheet Big East Freshman of the Week: St. John's's D`Angelo Harrison
D`Angelo Harrison averaged 33 minutes as a starter for St. John's. His averages in scoring (26.0 pts per game), three pointers (6.0 per game), and free throws (7.0 per game) topped all Big East freshmen. In an 87-81 win over DePaul, Harrison led all scoring for the Red Storm with 29 and added 5 rebounds. Then in a 95-70 loss to Syracuse, he led scoring with 23 points plus 5 assists.
This is a repeat honor for D`Angelo Harrison, making it the second time he has won StatSheet Big East Freshman of the Week. The runner-up is Pat Connaughton from Notre Dame. Honorable mention goes to Andre Drummond from Connecticut. The highest ranking freshman from Providence was LaDontae Henton who finished 4th.
StatSheet Big East 6th Man of the Week: Pittsburgh's Dante Taylor
Dante Taylor, a 6-9 Junior forward, averaged 23 minutes over the two games for the Panthers. In the win against West Virginia, Taylor put up 8 points and 7 rebounds. After that, in the win against Villanova, he racked up 9 points and 2 blocked shots.
This is the second StatSheet Big East 6th Man of the Week award for Dante Taylor. Dion Waiters, a sophomore guard from Syracuse, is runner up. C.J. Fair, a sophomore forward from Syracuse, receives honorable mention. Providence has yet to win StatSheet Big East Player of the Week.
